Im getting ready to order a grizzly 6” jointer, im trying to figure out which one would be the best for ease of use and changing blades. I like the spiral cutter head versions but i havent found to much information about them, what is the difference between the two kinds. I dont really plan on using to much figured woods. Is it a smoother cut with the blades? easier to change the spiral cutter heads? please help:)

I have a grizzly with the standard cutter head. The planer we use at our shop where I work has the spiral head. We usually change the blades on it once a year. The blades on the spiral cutter have 4 edges to work with. When the planer starts getting dull, you just rotate the blades a quarter turn. After rotating a 4th time, you throw them away and buy a new set. I like them both but it seems the spiral does a somewhat smoother finish.
