Three men go into a motel. The desk clerk said the room was $30, so each man paid $10 and went to the room.
A while later, the desk clerk realized the room was only $25, so he sent the bellboy to the three guys’ room with $5.
On the way, the bellboy couldn’t figure out how to split $5 evenly between three men, so he gave each man $1 and kept the other $2 for himself.

This meant that the 3 men each paid $9 for the room, which is a total of $27.

Add to that the $2 the bellboy kept and the total is $29.

Where is the other dollar?

I love word problems. I just sent you a private message Bob. I looked at this one for a few minutes before I hit myself on the head with my coffee cup.

This one is a classic. I don’t know if you are interested in getting an answer, but the answer is in the final question, which is misleading. There is no spoon.

I wish the dollar was in my pocket but alas it is not.

Sounds like we better ask an eighth grader…looks like a problem they would have in math.

30 – 5 = 25
3 + 2 = 5
25 + 5 = 30

No missing dollar, just misleading information… and a partridge in a pear tree. :)

3 guys in a room? Cheap buggers, I’d pay the $ to have my own room. They probably had just one king bed to boot…....:)

But was the partridge hit by the spoon?

This is good. This question is spreading around my office like wild fire, and everyone is scratching there heads.

Here’s one for you guys to try. I used to work for a bank and we had a money/bank trivia contest, and no one at this bank got this question right! That might explain why they aren’t around anymore.

What is the most amount of money you can have and still not be able to break a $20?

Hint: It’s not $19.99, which were most of the guesses from the bankers.

A few rules: – US currency only and currently in circulation :) – You only have currency that is less than $20

Do you still have pennies over at the bank or do they just use em at Wally Mart?

It’s been almost 10 years since I worked at the bank, I think pennies are still in circulation :). I don’t use much cash or even checks anymore. Just swipe the ol’ debt card now!

Are we taking guesses? $24.24 is my guess.

I could have a billion dollars and still not be able to break a $20, if I didn’t have anything smaller than a twenty.
