After oh about lets say 18 years of not touching a lathe I was knocking a lot of rust off.

First just some Poplar and getting use to my tools.

Green Pear.
Wow what a mess, I didn’t know what it was going to be so I say it’s a mallet.
I think.

It did take long before I notice it was starting to split, Bummer!

Anyway I love input.

Best,
Rick

Way to work off the rust, looks like a new beer bottle design. Definitely could be used for beating something.

If you turned your own beer bottles and use them, I think you could be made king legally or something.

Do you know if you fill up a glass bottle, like a beer bottle, completely with water and cap it tightly you can hammer nails with it. Just saying because of wseand and TheFridge posts it just reminder me of that bit of trivia.
Then again Rick Bailey it doesn’t look like your skills are rusty, nice turnings.

Yep, a full bottle was on my mind. :-)

I gave it to the wife and she thought I was a god making fire wood into … something.

And don’t give her ant ideas on beating something, like ME!

Looks good. That’s how it starts—you make something and then you want to this and that—again, and again.

Rick, I am not yet blessed with a lathe, so not yet cursed with the turning bug. :-) your work isn’t looking at all rusty. Fine looking fish knocker.

rantingRich… I believe he turned it on his lathe, then photographed it on the nearby table of his bandsaw. I’m guessing.

Dat Method doe… Keep it in the debate topics. Not in a person’s project thread. Thanks in advance.
