Topic tags/keywords: bowl segmented

This is a bold project I started just before Christmas. I was thinking urn but it got out of hand and became a large vase then a dopuble bowl set. The last pic shows the detail I did on the side of the lower section. It is drawn using a pencil, burned with a large skew tip, then carved in some areas and painted in others. Finish is gloss lacquer. Not quite complete. I still have to wet sand and polish the piece. The inside is finished with food safe salad bowl finish from General Finishes.

Size is 15” tall by 12” diameter.

Comments are welcomed.

There’s a reason that I’ve only turned ONE segmented bowl. Outstandstanding job!

I was told it was mahogany at the lumberyard. But someone in my turning club says it is Luan with a black walnut top and bottom.
