Topic tags/keywords: furniture asian design arts and crafts traditional shaker

Hey everybody!

First I just want to tell everyone how much I have been inspired by all of your project postings! I am new to furniture making and want to have a well rounded education when it comes to design and construction. I have been looking and looking online and through the shelves at my local bookstores to find a good resource for a good description about furniture design (IE. Asian inspired, arts and crafts, shaker style, modern, etc).

I was hoping that someone could help point me in the right direction in that regard. Any books that you recommend? Websites?

Please let me know. Im interested to hear your input.

I have this book and it has been great.

The Custom Furniture Sourcebook: A Guide to 125 Craftsmen
Kerry Pierce
This illustrated directory leads you to 125 makers of fine furniture, with photos and profiles of their work and complete contact information. Includes discussion of how to specify and purchase custom work for the home or office. Indexed by geographic location, type of furniture, and maker. Many super photos of contemporary work.

On my blog ( ), in the left hand column, about half way down I have a Book Shelf. It has all the books in my library, about 80 of them. You can scroll through them with arrow keys at the bottom and read short descriptions as you hold the mouse over one.
