Liberon claims their BLO is safe for toys. Shellac, lacquer, and all varnishes are non-toxic once dry or cured. -- - Please help keep Lumberjocks an enjoyable escape by refusing to participate in political discussions. Simply spit out the bait and ignore the thread... |

Almost all finishes are “food safe” once fully cured. -- My favorite piece is my last one, my best piece is my next one. |

Be a shame to not make coloured toys anymore! I,ve seen an article where they used artists oils cut with a mineral oil to stain the wood instead of paint and i,m sure that would be ok .I think the whole painted toy issue is a bit overblown . -- if the hand is not working it is not a pure hand |

almost all finishes are food safe once cured that is very important. BLO will not really cure so it is not your best choise. you can go with any good drying oil, seal a cell, arm r seal, waterlox. or shellac is food safe. those are all good choices |

Mineral oil is what i use on all my food projects. It looks nice and thats what i hear restaurants use. -- I like trees ...... as long as their by the board foot. |

jm540, it’s American CEO’s that are the problem! I am using plain old spray paint (w/o lead) for my grand kids when I want color and oil for nautral wood. -- Debt is nothing more than the 21st Century's form of slavery. |
