In the August 2006 No. 185 issue of Fine Woodworking magazine, there’s an article on Sharpening and setup of hollow chisel mortise bits. On the top of p. 57 are shown what look like small round and flat India oilstones. Can anyone suggest a source for such stones? I have been looking inline with no luck finding anything this shape or this small.

Thanks much,

George

lee valley sells hones for hollow mortise chisels. I got a set for the delta chisels and I’m satisfied. They sell two sizes, the standard delta type and a japanese type. Rockler sells a similar kit for more money. Karson did a review on the Rockler kit here.

Digging up an old but good thread. Does anyone know of hones made for larger chisels? I have 5/8” and 3/4” chisels. These hones only go up to 1/2” it seems. Thank you.
