Topic tags/keywords: steel tool

I have been looking into making my own hand tools, and I wanted to know if anybody knew of a good steel supplier. I don’t want large quantities, but I want to find both oil and water quenching tool steel along with steel for saw blades. Any and all suggestions are welcome.

Does anyone know if tool steels are used for saw blades? I found that back saws use spring steel, but i’m not sure how that differs from tool steel.

Last weekend I attended a Tool evnt near home, and there was a booth from Wenzloff &Sons, saw makers. I noticed they had this saw kits, with the blade, unfinished handle and screws. You can write or call them and ask about the characteristics of the steel they use.
