Topic tags/keywords: question I haven’t been active recently so I may be imagining this but didn’t there used to be a link to the “Most Viewed” projects? I see there’s “Most Favorited” “Most Discussed” and “Editor’s Choice”. Did the “Most Viewed” link get dropped? -- Jim |

Thanks for the link “http://lumberjocks.com/projects/by/views” SASmith. Holding down the F5 key when looking at a project will refresh the page very, very, very, very fast and each refresh counts as a view. I concluded, after reading 176 posts on the subject, that the problem with the views and how it affects the top projects for the day also resulted in the removal of the link to the top projects of all time by views. I ran a test to see if F5 still increases the views and it does. Since this problem was first addressed two years ago, I’m going to conclude that it’s now ok to give your own projects the number of views they deserve so they show up in the top rankings of all time where they should. -- Jim |

Jim, Ah yes, the good old ViewBooster 3000 (VB3K)! Memories… -- “Big man, pig man, ha ha, charade you are.” ― R. Waters |

Hey Chuck, As a veteran of those discussions, do you think I got the conclusion correct about the dissapearance of the “Most Viewed” link? Also, do you think I’ll be kicked out if I adjust the top 20 or so projects by view to my own tastes? -- Jim |

Jim, I am not sure if this led to the removal of the Most Viewed link. I do remember that we used to be able to ViewBoost our own projects while logged in. Then a change was made so that self-views do not count. Now you have to log out to Boost yourself! I got in trouble at home for Boosting my wife on GardenTenders – it was more than worth it. I say make the adjustments as you see fit. -- “Big man, pig man, ha ha, charade you are.” ― R. Waters |

Under “Jocks” the heading “Most Recent” has also disappeared. Now (actually, for quite a while now) you have to go to the “Pulse Page” and click on “Profiles” to get a List of them, no pictures. The SPAM is in their also. I go there quite often to do “Welcome To LumberJocks” not bragging or anything like that I just enjoy doing it. Since A1Jim stopped doing it I’m the only one. A while back there used to be 10 Members doing it. About 8 of those 10 are no longer on the site (80 day minimum away to qualify). Get this. Somewhere about 5 years later this appears under the Greetings if the Member hadn’t posted anything. (Yes I know there’s another Post about that running now.) How he kept track of them ? Unless he just went through them individually. He might still be on here as his last Profile date shows early November. ”Hey there, noticed you haven’t posted anything – trying to nudge people into getting back into LJs -- LIFE is what happens when you're planning on doing Other Things! |
