Topic tags/keywords: sander question resource sanding

Ok , LJs I really need your help with this.
I show up to purchase a tool box when I walk up to the garage door of the owner and saw a Powermatic sander just laying in his driveway. I kept my calm and made the deal for the tool box and then asked the man about his sander. Turns out this guy is a woodworker and just upgraded to a drum sander and he was going to scrap this unit! I immediately had to respond, “If you’re gonna scrap it I’ll take it off your hands.” He responded, “Sure!”
When I came to… we loaded it up without question and even left without even plugging it in to see if it worked.
I need to know the model of the until so I can find a manual for simple repairs and such. Any ideas?

Unbelievable what people will throw away. I ran into a similar deal where a guy gave me a miter saw, dust collector, and mortising machine. Sorry I can’t help identify it but very gloat worthy score.

I’m no help, as to the model, but damn! Wish I could run into someone like that!

Looks like a Model 31, but missing the large belt table and pedestal. Here’s a link on eBay to a possible manual. See what you think:

Paul, TN,
I looked over the suggestion of this model being a 31 but not real sure it fits the features. Is there a place under the machine that has a number? It has a motor with McMinnville, TN on it if that helps.

Just to fill everyone in this model is a 084. I had to send a picture to Powermatic and they emailed me a owners/repair manual.
