You know what’s really, really, really, ad nauseam and so-on about this site is – absolutely nothing will “come into focus” with this site until all the stupid pop-up ads come into being, i.e., scroll bar is inoperative, clicking on forums is inoperative, etc, etc, etc, etc! The longer it takes an ad to appear is how much longer nothing is going to happen.

I use “Chrome” with “AdBlocker Plus” installed….
No ads & quick page loading.

I’ve gone over to Chrome too. IE and Firefox gives me all kinds of adware and pooups.

I have Chrome, just haven’t used it on a steady diet. I’ll pop over there with AdBlocker Plus and see what happens. I don’t have Firefox or Mc-whatever, as some government programs I use will not accept them as fool proof, of which happened to me once – crash – new PC! I use Kaspersky, great anti-virus / malware program. Thanks for reminding me.

Firefox with NoScript. Set SoScript to allow LJ and nothing else.

I do not know what is wrong with your computer or connection but I use Chrome with the standard setting and do not have any problems. LJ loads up fine with the ads and everything. I just ignore the ads.

I am using ATT Uverse and not overly fast for this day and age. Download Speed 15.5 Mbps Upload Speed 1.85 Mbps

I would suggest that you run a speed test using a site like speedtest.net and see if your download speed is OK.

If the speed is OK then perhaps you have some type of problem with programs in your computer or too many things running in the back ground.

Don’t have Firefox – see above. Firefox and MacThingee did not protect/stop any malware/virus from the destruction of my previous PC. I now have Kaspersky on my brand new PC – which my brother and brother-in-law nerds highly recommend. What does a speed test have to do with pop-up ads?

My point with the speed test is that he mentioned – “absolutely nothing will “come into focus” with this site until all the stupid pop-up ads come into being”. I merely suggest that if he has a slow connection, it is taking a long time for the ads to download. The second possibility is that his computer is slow due to malware, too many programs running in the background, etc. The speed test can eliminate the first possibility and allow him to concentrate on other factors.

I ran into a problem a couple of years ago where my speed was way below what it should be and found that there was a problem with the telephone lines that were bringing the signal. Once that was fixed, my speed was back up and slow computer loading was gone.

Download and upload is 30Mbps. “Come into focus” is a figure of speech, i.e., ads take to long to upload because LJ is crammed to the gills with them. And that is another figure of speech.

If you have that kind of speed, the screen ought to just pop up immediately, my speed is half of that and there is no apparent lag as I go to another page or bring up LJ and the ads are right there. You may have something else going on with your computer.

Maybe, I just misunderstood and there is really now issue with the screens coming up quickly and you are upset because you feel there are too many ads.

I accessed the site from my wife’s I pad the other day since we were traveling. I just put lumberjocks in the search engine and clicked on the link. Nothing was done to stream line the process, etc… and I can honestly say it was absolutely horrible. Pop ups everywhere, click on a project and boom pop up dead center taking up about 1/2 the screen and everything else blurry. It was constant enough so I watched whatever horrible Disney show the kids were watching. Not a big deal as I wouldn’t use that means of ever viewing a site (assume some way to get it functional that way also) but would have never come to the site again if that had been my only experience with the site. I can say they are losing out on a lot of traffic if that is the norm. I only access the site on my desktop (Chrome/add block).
