I use Redtree badger hair brushes for my varnish, and the 2” size seems to be the most used one. Properly cared for, they last a very long time (you need a really good cleaning regimen). You can just search that brand, it seems to me the last time I bought them I got them at Jamestown distributprs. Before someone points out they aren’t really badger hair, let me add to this spiel….but they are still excellent brushes.

I’ve had good luck with the above link and they respond to questions
from my emails.

Can’t really answer your questions about the Waterlox though.

Elder Jenks are medium priced quality brushes. The Gramercy brushes are expensive but WOW. I’ve been disappointed last few years with both Purdy and Wooster. My old Purdys and Woosters are very good but I can’t recommend the new ones.

I buy natural bristle (White China) brushes at HD.
