Topic tags/keywords: free lumber cherry maple walnut oak So, I have purchased a new Rigid jointer w/Home Depot gift cards(Thank you Chase Rewards) and was given an antique jointer just yesterday. So, I need to make some room in the shop. I have a pile of cherry and maple/curly maple about knee high and 4ft wide. Sizes starting at 1”x1” and up. Most are 5 to 6 foot long. I even have boxes of shorter lengths in oak, maple, cherry, and walnut. This stuff works great in cutting boards, inlays, edgings, and turnings. So, are there any lumberjocks in West Michigan that would like some FREE wood? Yes, FREE. I would of course be open to donations of unique wood. |

Watch out you may have LumberJocks driving for days to get free wood. -- What happens in the workshop stays in the workshop. No wait that doesn't sound right. Karson Southern Delaware karson_morrison@bigfoot.com † |

Rustic is correct. I always have too much lumber on hand. Someone will call and say “I have another load of curly for you. Make sure you bring the empty van.” How could any of us say NO! I would rather find someone to use it then for it to be chipped and sold to the mulch companies. Needless to say, my local high school woodshop class always has materials for the students. Marcb, I sent you a message so we can make arrangements for you to stop by and get some stuff. If any of you LJ’s are going to be around the Grand Rapids, Michigan area anytime this year make sure you add me as a buddy and drop me a line when you are going to be in the area. Odds are I will have some material for trade, swap, or just need to move out of the shop. |

For God’s sake man, don’t give my wife any ideas! Very decent of you to think of the community here, Tearen. Be prepared for unbridled popularity. -- "Bordnerizing" perfectly good lumber for over a decade. |

Sorry Douglas, I cannot control the mind of a woman. One day you will come home and all your cutoffs will be gone….. Happened to me once when I was on a business trip to Australia. Only took a couple years to replace all my lost treasures! I could probably sell the materials online, but I feel better when I am able to meet a fellow woodworker and know that the wood is going to be used properly. |

Mrs YS wouldn’t dream of clearing anything out of mine. I’m so lucky. But then, I wouldn’t touch any of her stash of knitting yarn; and it’s quite a stash! Now, where’s West Michigan…? -- Res severa verum gaudium - True pleasure is a serious business. http://www.folksy.com/shops/TreeGems |

That is mighty nice of you Tearen. No good to me though. :-( I’m in NL, Canada . . . a fair bit north and east of West Michigan. -- The significant problems we face cannot be solved by the same level of thinking that created them |

Thanks Tearen, I may be out your way later this spring. If it happens, I’ll drop you a line and see if I can stop by and scrounge anything or even check out your shop for some ideas for mine. -- Dave, Colonie, NY |
