I have a piece of marblewood i just finished turning which is stuck on a bottlestopper mandrel! I mean STUCK! I have tried gripping the mandrel with a wrench, and even put it in the freezer for a couple of mins thinking the metal would contract faster than the wood. Nothing has worked. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Is it a screw-on type mandrel? If so, is it reverse-threaded?

Hi NWM. Its a threaded mandrel. Yes, it is reverse threaded. Yes, I am trying to turn it the correct way. :)

Can you put the mandrel in a vise and use a strap-wrench to unscrew the piece?

1- Soak it in water for a few days to let the wood swell, then dry it.
2- heat the metal to expand, then let it cool.
3- 1+2
