Recently my tensioning nut and 3/8 screw seized on my 14” Jet Band saw. I was going to order a replacement from Jet when I discovered many other/better aftermarket choices like the one from Highland Woodworking with the spindle crank. The one thing that I noticed about the aftermarket cranks, is that they all say they don’t work with quick release models.

So, is it possible to leave the quick release assembly off the band saw and operate it like it was never there. I know it will take longer for blade tensioning, but I’m in no rush.

Well, I got an aftermarket crank, took off the quick release, and it works great. This forced me to pretty much dismantle my whole bandsaw. Now I really understand how it works.

Have your say...
