My name is Joseph,
I have been doing woodworking for about 30 years, started when my dad won a craftsman contractors saw in raffle. He had no idea what a table saw was or how to use one. I told him that I had wood shop in high school and knew how use a table saw. He did not want to mess with it so he gave it to me. I took it home got my buddy from work who was big into woodworking, help me set up the saw and gave some pointers on what upgrades to do. So that was many years ago I had that saw for about 20 years, I had put a biesemeyer fence on. Made a nice rolling cabinet for the base, used the saw to make cabinets, tables, desks, and many other projects around the house and my brothers house. I ended up selling that saw to my brother when I got interested in car racing and needed more room in my garage. I have now finished with car racing, it is very expensive hobby. I bought this new craftsman 21833 table saw back in 2012 when my project list started getting long again. After making my new cabinets for my garage, I found that I want a better fence and more capacity. The saw works really good but a part fell out of the fence that affected the clamping and I could not find it. I tried to get the part from Sears but it kept going on back order and finally they wrote saying they don’t think they can get the part. I looked into other fences at that time and couldn’t find one that I liked plus I had a fit issue. I needed on to be a certain length and I wanted at least 36” capacity. I am a Journeyman Machinist and work in a great shop. We have some large mills and lathes, welding and everything else in a machine shop. I cam across a youtube video of a guy making his own T square table saw fence, his name on youtube is AskWoodMan. So I decided to make my own fenced based on his video, I did some stuff different, and I the cost for all the materials for the fence and side extension tables was around $240 plus the time to design it and do the welding and machining. Much cheaper than the Biesemeyer I thought about getting. I want to say thanks to AskWoodMan for his video which inspired me to make the fence. At this time I am working on my new table saw base with storage for all my tools. I will posts some photos when it is done.
Here are some photos of my fence.
