Can anyone help me give me an idea how much a belsaw retoother may be worth?

Is it complete ? Do you have to have all the ratchet bars and carriers, not just the retoother. Without them it is virtually worthless…Here is a post about mine. http://lumberjocks.com/projects/3235

yes, it has all the parts. Actually it is a complete sharpening shop. The gentleman pasted a way. I just don’t know the value of the tools. Thanks

And I want to add Robbieboy, don’t be discouraged if you find the machines are not worth all that much (if you are selling, if you are buying I guess that is different) It is the little things in a full sharpening shop that get overlooked that can be worth way more than people would think. Stuff like abrasive wheels, some of those sell for $20 each (like for a big planer knife grinder) Or if he did carbide grinding too and has diamond wheels some of those sell for much more yet. Files, hand setters, fixtures, odds and ends…they all add up $$$. A full box of chainsaw grinder disks for example is worth more than most of the Foley chainsaw grinders. Don’t just look at the big machines as having big value, most don’t unfortunately.

The SR1000 Retoother was advertised for $879.00 in the 1991 Foley/Belsaw catalog.

Shame isn’t it, how fast/much they depreciate.

Have your say...
