I’m working (actually, struggling!!) on a SketchUp drawing on a Colonial Corner Cupboard, by Lonnie Bird, that was in the August 1998 American Woodworker. I saved the “plans” all this time hoping I would someday have the skills to build it. I’m not sure I have the skills yet, but at least I’m not afraid to try. At any rate, there are some dimensions missing, so I thought I would experiment with SketchUp to see if I could “put it together.” I may have bit off more than I can chew. So, my question is, has anyone already put these plans into a SketchUp model?

No, but I could scan a copy. Or, if you have a fax, I could fax you a copy. I’ve been looking around the internet and trying to figure out how to have boards angled off of each other (poorly worded, but imagine a corner cupboard and how the sides angle off the front face). Also, I need to lay one board on top of another in alignment…haven’t figured that one out either. I’m early in my trying to learn SketchUp, so the learning curve is currently pretty steep, which I expected. But, thanks, and I appreciate your offer. Let me know what you would like me to do.

Don & Dave, I could also try to help out if you wish – my SketchUp is improving while I can’t work in my shop.
PM me if you’d like my 2 cents, and I’ll send you my email address.

Have your say...
