hey guys i’m ordering the harbor freight 12”x33 3/8” lathe with reversible head and I want to make sure I order a chuck that will fit it properly. I know it says it has a 1” spindle so what do I need to look at as far as making sure a new chuck will fit?

Can, this is what I gave my wife for Christmas last year. Penn State Industries had the right sizes for it. I didn’t get a chuck, but did get some other things. I will try to look at my past purchases and verify the size.

It has a 1 X 8tpi spindle which is one of the most common sizes. You should have no problem with a chuck for it from any manufacturer. Most chucks take an insert/adapter which is usually about $20 which allows you to move the chuck to a different lathe (spindle size) by only purchasing a different adapter. Some chucks are direct threaded for 1 X 8 and some what restrictive in that they are only for the specific spindle size.
