Hi folks, I’m getting ready to work on my first chair that’ll require curved work (shaping spindles, arm rests). After a bit of reading I’m going with a wooden low angle spoke shave to handle flat/concave/convex as I’m less inclined to buy two metal shaves (flat/round) and am not planning to work with difficult grain wood which bevel down spokeshaves seem to excel at..
With that said, I was wondering if folks had recommendations for a lifetime quality versatile wooden spokeshave for both hard/softwoods, and pretty good-finish and heavy shaping work.
As of now, I’m looking at:
2.) James Mursell’s medium spokeshave
Any thoughts/recommendations would be appreciated.
