Topic tags/keywords: veritas scraper hand plane

I’m starting to do more acoustic guitar building, and wanting to thin sides/backs/tops without a drum sander – a Veritas Scraper plane would be a great fit for my process.

Anyone have a Veritas Scraper plane they’d like to part with?
With the 0.055” high-carbon steel blade preferred, but would also find use for the thicker flat or toothed blade.

This is the model I’m looking for:

thanks all Daniel

What do you think of a scraper insert?

That ebay one will be worth watching – a little rust cleanup required, but maybe not too bad.

I like the idea of 2 7/8” blade of the dedicated scraper plane vs. the 2” of the insert, but something to consider.

rustynails – thanks for the heads up. That one is the Lie Nielsen version without the ability to bow the blade. I’m really hoping to find the Veritas version as it provides greater/more subtle blade control.
