I have an older (1999) Jet contractor saw. It came with the standard blade guard/splitter/anti-kickback fingers. Does anyone know if there is a riving knife available for this model? Is it possible to retrofit the trunion assembly to accept a riving knife?

Google “BORK” (bolt on riving knife). They can tell you whether they have one that will fit. Also, try Shark Guard, who may have something. There are also splitters that can be used with most TSs. However, none of these are true riving knives.
