I tried to search lumberjocks for this question in case this has been suggest 100 times, but my javascript blocker (i think) is acting up or something else is, as it gives no results. So, I’ll just toss it out there…
There are wonderful projects in the Home Refurb and in the Garden Tenders. But such a low traffic flow and interest, I hardly check them out. It might be time to rename them RefurbJocks and GardenJocks, and merge everything with LumberJocks into 1 site so all can share and swap and comment, etc. It doesnt make sense that a wood project falls into the refurbish site when it makes sense to put on lumberjocks, and vice versa. I feel a great many projects are hidden away when they should shine.

I agree.
I have tried to use the refurb site, but trafic count is so low there might not be a response to my posted question for weeks.; if at all.
But the same question posted at LJ will be discussed dozens of times in a few hours.
Why not merge them and make each site a new forum(s) within Lumber Jocks?

Nah … I’d say leave it like it is. Adding more to LumberJocks would make it more convoluted and less user friendly. What LumberJocks needs is a better search engine … that has been on Crickett’s ‘to-do’ list for a long time.

Merge the Search to search all sites, or give an option to search all sites, while keeping all 3 sites separate.

I belong to another forum that merged several other DIY type forums together. It turned into a PITA!

A year after merging, there will be suggestions posted to break off refurbers and garden tenders into their own sites…..

If not enough activity on the other sites shut them down. Nothing worse than a site that loses its identity because of it trying to be a catch all.

I was just going to suggest this same thing when I went to this forum it was already there. Anyhow I am all for it. I think it would only improve this site. Get on it Cricket.

I’d not care for it. Woodworking is a broad enough topic in itself and mixing it up with other topics would make the member-base too diverse. Without a common interest, a community will tend to break apart.

it is just sad to see something like these projects over at the refurb site goes unknown:
http://homerefurbers.com/projects/1236
http://homerefurbers.com/projects/716

maybe merging everything together would not work. but at least for the refurb site where 75% are wood working projects…. eh.
