All of a sudden my delta 25-540 planer won,t cut. What happens is when I lower the blades, the wood can,t fit under the top and I can,t get the wood in to reach the blades. I unplugged it,raised the top, put a board in, lower the top till it holds the wood….I reached in and I can turn the blades by hand,,but they don,t touch the wood. Any ideas.

I guess I need some more information to answer your question. Does your planer have a depth of cut readout? If so, set the cut for 1/32” or so and try a pass on lumber that has already been surfaced. If the planer won’t feed the wood, it could be dull blades or a problem with the feed rollers / gears.

I can get the wood to feed without the cutters touching the wood, but as I try small lowing of the cutters, it won’t let the wood in. It’s like the whole cutter head assembly has lower itself lower then cutter head. if that makes sense.
