Has anyone had the chance to check out the Delta 46-460 or 46-455 lathes? They are comparable to the Jet JWL-1220. My local tool store is having their annual tool show in two weeks, they have the VS model going for $599. I haven’t seen much about it yet.

I dont know about those models but if they are any thing close to the 46-756 or 755x they would be great machines. Ive had mine for about three years now, bought it used, its an older model, but it runs great, and I would not trade it for the world. I think mine is more heavy duty than the JWL-1220 but I have heard good things about those as well. Do not forget to fill the legs with sand or cement, to give it stability..

Thanks, I guess I’ll find out at the show. They should have both there for comparison.

I saw the 46-460 at my woodworkers guild meeting. I was real impressed with the tool because of easy belt change and it had a 1hp motor, indexing wheel, reverse, and looked like it was weel designed. All I can find on the lathe is a press release. I have called several of my friends in the machinery business and they do not know anything about when it will be coming out or the price. We have a show in Chantilly VA the end of March and I have heard that it will not be introduced then by my resorces. If you know where to get one please let me know. I have to buy a lathe at the end of the month at the latest and would like to have a delta, but the jet 1220 is my next choice. Oh the extension bed for wthe 46-460 is 46-463.
