Topic tags/keywords: question

I am building my first piece of furniture, a bathroom vanity. I have all the tools, a computerized design and cut list all completed.
My choice of wood is limited to what the big box stores sell: sanded birch, maple 3/4” plywood etc.
The vanity will be stained dark charcoal (minwax). There will only be one end panel exposed.
I am not opposed to applying veneer on this end.
Which species do you think I would have the best staining results with or if I should use veneer, what type should I get?

jvallee, this is such a broad and subjective question, it’s hard to answer concisely. What kind of look do you like ? What are your budgetary constraints ? Are there other wooden architectural features or furniture that you need to coordinate with ?

Any of the woods you mentioned would work. There’s no reason why you can’t use simple construction plywood for panels that won’t show.

Have your say...
