Hello looking for some suggestions for people who are more creative than I!

My father in law is a pilot for FedEx, has been for over 25 years.

I figure this year i will make all my close family members a gift from wood (What am i thinking?)

I want to do something for him either FedEx related, or Airplane related.

I thought of making a nice wooden airplane with a fedex logo. Then a box that looks like a FedEx shipping box.

Somehow a box that looks like the front of an airplane?

Any input?

How about a hazmat suit? Sorry Lat, couldn’t resist!

If you have a lathe making a really nice pen can be a good gift. One with a twist mechanism so he can use it on the job.

If you want to make a box I find making a box that holds a bottle of wine (and then include a bottle of wine) is a well received gift that they will use for years to come.

The plane idea is nice but honestly I find that folks prefer craftsmanship over tie ins to their job.

Good stuff! LOL

I was talking to my wife and she likes the idea of making a nice box that looks like a fedex shipping box.

Make it a watch box. I’m not sure that I’ve even seen a pilot that didn’t wear a watch. :)

Good ideas guys!

Not sure if he is a watch guy or not.

I’ll talk to my MIL to see what she thinks.

As an airline pilot myself, I would absolutely love any hand-crafted gift related to aviation. I think he would love both the FedEx box and a wooden FedEx plane. Although, the plane is something he could purchase pretty easily. A shipping box would be a one-of-a-kind gift.

Handmade pens can be beautiful, but I would probably recommend against it. Most pilots I know are on one of two extremes with pens, either extremely picky about the type and how it fits in the shirt pocket, or too scared to carry a nice one, because they think they’ll lose it.

If I can think of something else, I’ll let you know.
