Hi guys,
Just bought this drill press.
I am not able to install the “chuck” assembly…
It all seems to fit, but even after banging on it to insert it into the main body, it won’t stick.
Any idea what I could be doing wrong?
Tx

Have you checked to make sure everything is clean? A little grit of some leftover cosmolene could cause all sorts of problems. Also, you have to give it a pretty firm whack to get it to seat, at least that was the case with mine.

Hi guys – drill press still not working.
Tried to call the service center… they are clueless…

This image shows the issue…

Is this normal? When we hit the chuck to get it in place, nothing happens.
The shaft even goes up and protrudes more and more above the belts….

Does anyone have a clue?

Thanks a lot

Yes I think I see the problem you seem to have it inserted upside down the narrow bit inside the viewing window of the quill read drill spindle ,is designed to take the chuck so remove it completely from the quill turn it around fit the drill chuck onto this small narrowed tapered end and tap gently with a rubber mallet then with the morse tapered spindle which should be in your hand fit this narrower portion of the morse taper end of the chuck holder first into the drill spindle and tap it with a rubber mallet and all should be well so long as it is the correct morse taper to suit your spindle shaft. These are mostly sutable for morse tapers which are graded by number so you could have a morse taper 3 or 4 or 1 or 2 etc etc hope this helps Alistair excuse typing I am very tired tonight Alistair ps look up morse taper jacobs chuck spindle for a drill press and all your answers will be revealed

-- excuse my typing as I have a form of parkinsons disease

Hello Alistair,
Thanks – But I am bit confused – according to the assembly guide, this is how the spine is supposed top be inserted…. very puzzling….

Have your say...
