After hearing so many praises on Zinssers Seal coat on the net/ pod casts over the years and now have a table I just finished making to use it on I went in search of this product. However it seemed was not available in Canada After many trips to all the big box stores and a few local paint stores I finally found some at Home Hardware. Also with all the talk of this you also need denatured alcohol which is under the name in Canada as Methyl Hydrate ( from what I read ). Home Hardware sells Methyl Hydrate in different sizes. I bought On on the bottle it says for thinning shellac and cleaning brushes. Hope this helps a few people. I was only able to get the gallon size of Seal Coat and cost $66.99+ tax
Thanks for the tip on Zinssers Seal Coat.
On the other hand, Methyl Hydrate is not denatured alcohol. but rather a kind of wood alcohol. I've stopped using it because the warnings are so scary on it. I've found denatured alcohol (ethanol plus poison) in 95% strength at Lawson's Drugs stores, if you have those in your part of the country. And price seemed pretty comparable to M-H.
You could use 99% alcohol instead of Denatured alcohol,I buy four bottles in a pack from Costco.
The problem with Seal coat is you can only buy a Gallon from Home Hardware and if you don't finish it in a couple of years,it goes bad / never dries properly.
I can buy Kleen strip DNA at lumber world, in Victoria, BC.
