Hi,

I have a weird thing I need. I have to install a sliding door (not very heavy) but can’t either hang it (no clearance) and can’t install a floor track (divider between two rooms with finished floors). Therefore the thing has to ROLL on little rollers that I miter or recess into the bottom. Would prefer something small and discreet and preferably on the soft side (like neoprene or soft nylon) so as not to mark the floor. Should be sturdy enough to endure years of use, but not daily.

Does anyone know of a part that would fit the bill?

Thanks!

How about something along the lines of this?

You didn’t mention how wide it is but this could be mortised into the bottom.

Could you hollow out a space for some small wheels at each end of the base, then make an axle from small bolts (or threaded rod) to go thru the door for the wheels to ride on. Find some small casters with rubber wheels and cut them out of the holder.

They’re probably bigger than you want to find a housing for, but do you have the width to hide inline skate wheels? They’re not too wide…

If not that, then maybe some circles of bicycle innertube (or the rubber bands that come on broccoli) looped over a 608ZZ or similar bearing…
