Topic tags/keywords: air compressor tools

I’m looking to upgrade my very old Campbell Hausfield air compressor. As I’m moving the workshop into the basement from the garage, noise consideration is a key factor.

Does anyone have any first hand experience with California Air Tools compressors in general and/or with the model 10020 (2hp 10 gallon 120v unit)? Specs wise this unit meets my needs and their marketing is quite impressive regarding noise levels.

On line reviews from existing owners are favourable – almost too good to be true.

What be interested in hearing some thoughts from the LJ community who may have one or have seriously looked into them.

I own a CAT compressor. It is the most quiet compressor you will ever find. I recommend it 100%.

I’ve had it for about 6 weeks and it is quiet and surprisingly quick to fill.. at least compared to my old Craftsman pancake. It takes about 90 seconds to 2 min to fill. I have it in the garage and can’t hear it run when I’m in the house. If I’m in the garage I don’t jump out of my skin when it starts. I couldn’t even think around the old one.

I set it up, filled it, then left it unplugged and after 3 days it didn’t appear to drop in pressure at all. Highly recommended.
