Topic tags/keywords: ornament swap christmas holiday

Time for our second annual Christmas tree ornament swap. It goes simply compared to most swaps. Your ornament should be wooden but may include other materials. Soon as you have an ornament completed, message me your address and I’ll match you with another person. Your choice of wood and design.

  • No sign up necessary but please reply if you intend to participate.
  • Deadline for round one is Dec 4th but don’t wait, most people will finish earlier.
  • Please ship once you have been matched.

Last year a few people wanted to swap more than once and that is fine. Once we complete the first round of swapping, anyone who wishes may go again.

If someone else in your family wishes to participate, please message me first. I want to make sure the swap partner is okay with it before matching up.

It’s up to the other folks but I’m fine with it. I’m sure folks will be happy to swap but I’ll ask before matching up.

Does it matter if it isn’t original? I saw something somebody else made and think a small version of it would make an AWESOME ornament. crosses fingers

Also, what are thoughts on religious content? I would prefer not to receive crucifix or something if I join :/

I think if you want to copy someone else, they would be the person to ask.

On some swaps I believe they try to match people with similar craftsmanship but trying to match people with similar theological beliefs is more involvement than I want. You could admire a piece for it’s creativity and/or craftsmanship and ignore the religious symbolism. Christmas as celebrated today is a mishmash of pagan and Christian traditions so who knows, you might get an angel, a snowflake, a wreath, or Celtic knot; each has a different connotation. Ultimately if religious symbolism bothers you then a swap of this nature is probably something you should sit out. But don’t take that as me trying to discourage you, you are welcome to swap but I’m not going to censor what you receive.

Everyone can begin their ornaments, we will begin swapping soon as a few are done. People can join as we go and still participate.
