Topic tags/keywords: mill seconds seconds southern california irregular recycled lumber

We are currently renovating our home and looking for a source for 1×8” “mill seconds” or “irregulars”. Basically a board that is headed for the scrap heap or sawdust.

We do not want perfect lumber and unfortunately recycled lumber is just too expensive. We are using the boards for decorative ceiling planking and irregular is the look we want/need :)

We have heard there is someone that sells “seconds” out in the Inland Empire, but so far haven’t been able to locate them.

Is anyone aware of such a place, anywhere in So Cal?

Your help is greatly appreciated and thanks in advance!

PS – We have tried Ganahl and they were not able to help.

See if you can find a sawmill near you. They usually pile those up and eventually throw them away. Most of it will be air dried.

Try the ReStore. They sometimes have recycled wood, and don’t charge too much.
