Topic tags/keywords: ink transfer

Hello all,

I’m refinishing my living room table copying the project in this link, http://www.instructables.com/id/Ouija-Coffee-Table/ . I used the 0000 steel wool in vinegar staining method the author of the article used and really disliked the resulting color, so I applied One coat of the Varathane Gel stain I’ve used on the rest of the table. I really like the color now but am unsure of how well the ink will transfer to the table top due to a coat of oil-based gel stain being applied.

When asked elsewhere people mentioned acrylic gloss medium or a gel tar but others said this would not work.

Any suggestions or experience here?

Not too sure, however get a piece of equalevent timber treat it in the same process and do a test run to determine the results, before trying the table.
