I have a Ryobi TSS 220 sliding compound miter saw that I have owned since around 1993. It has been a good saw. But recently the spring that puts tension on the blade guard broke.
Ryobi does not make the part anymore.
Has anyone found a good substitute?
The dimensions of the spring are 5/32" diameter and the distance between the holes when the blade guard is fully extended is about 2". The ends are attached via a screw on one end and a hole on the other.
I modified a spring by bending the end 90 degrees for the screw mount and stretching out the other end for the hole mount But it did not seem work correctly and eventually disconnected at the hole end.
I will continue to look for a replacement. but I wanted to ask if anyone has found a replacement for this saw.
Thanks
Dave
