Tough to be sure based on the picture, and without knowing where it came from. But, if I were to guess w/o seeing the end grain…I would guess white oak.

Shane, you’re bold to venture a guess from that picture. I can’t even tell if it’s a hardwood or a softwood.

If you want a meaningful answer you’ll need a better/bigger picture of the grain & end grain, rough idea of how heavy/hard/dense it is, and some idea what part of the world it came from. But based on that pic I think Shane’s guess of white oak is feasible.

They put this wood between heavy pipes to ship them by rail. It could be from china for all I know. It does not have any grain which throws me. It is a heavy hardwood. The other wood that I got, had grain like regular oak. Thanks guys.

Here is another pic of some boards I glued up. The near and far boards are like the one above. The middle ones look like regular oak to me.
