Topic tags/keywords: question finishing

I bought some aromatic cedar oil a while back for refreshing the smell on projects. This morning I wondered if cedar oil was a drying oil and could be used similar to BLO, walnut or Tung. I did a fair amount of searching today with no luck. Does anyone know if cedar oil offer any benefits besides aroma, pest and insect benefits?

Nope.. If you purchased cedar essential oil; which is hard to find, then it will smell like cedar, otherwise aromatic cedar does not provide a “fire wall” against bugs; just a myth.

I believe we’re on the same page. I got it from a company out of Texas that claims it’s 100% pure ERC oil. It was like 40-50 for half a gallon if my memory serves me right. Which makes it too pricey to use as a protection oil. But none the less I was curious of the possible benefits besides aroma.

If you want to refresh the smell of cedar, lightly sand and it will come right back. you don’t need oil.
