Hey guys,
I was wondering what your thoughts are on this DeWalt router kit.
I have a old PC 690 fixed base that’s still going strong but I don’t want to buy what they are selling now, it’s not the same quality as PC used to be.

I don’t need a big router or something for a router table, I have a shaper that I can change the spindle to use router bits in.

I want to use it for plunge routing and for my dovetail jig-edge routing, inlay work ext.
I like the D handle base and fixed base also.
I searched the LJ reviews and the feeling were kind of mixed.

Amazon reviews were pretty good but I’m not stuck on Dewalt.
I just can’t afford Feasttool. ;-)
Thanks for your help.

It’s a great piece of machinery. I had a bit of a problem with the plunge base, but I have been told they have fixed the problem, nothing serious. I have had mine maybe 5 years and not any real problems. I would buy it again. I don’t use it much as a plunge router, 99% of time it’s in my table and have different ones for my free hand work..

I love my DW618. The unit is shorter than the other 2-1/4HP competitors making it easier to control (fixed base). The in column dust collection on the plunge base is also great and dust collection.
