Hi everyone I wanted to convert my 2-car garage into a full time work shop but marriage has turned this idea into a temporary and portable workspace in my garage – that’s compromise! So today I am researching a temporary wall to put in my garage that can maintain good sealing for air conditioning and not take up a lot of space while in storage.
Also is there such a thing as insulated plastic barriers, or maybe 2 layers of plastic that might work best to insulate the work area. The temp wall will be in place 6-8 months a year for winter and spring which is ~85 degrees in the garage, summer and fall it’s 95-110. Thanks for your help and suggestions.

I’ve split mine in half with a temporary wall built of 2×4’s with plastic stapled to it. I remove it in the summer and remove the screws from the studs. Plastic on each side would probably be even better.

4 ft. x 8 ft. x 2 in. extruded foam insulation sheets would likely get the job done and be fairly durable. Tape the seams with package tape.

At $35.48 each, an 8ft. by 20 ft. wall would cost right at $200.00 and would take a storage space of 4 ft. x 8 ft. x 10 in.

...just a thought.

Best Regards, Grandpa Len.

What? You didn’t put the shop requirement in the pre-neptuals?

Man, you’re screwed.
