Hello from sunny Wichita Kansas!
I'm Jason, long time lurker, first time poster. I thought I'd break the ice and introduce myself.
Last year my wonderful wife announced that she'd like to have a little family get together in the spring, and wanted a couple of new picnic tables for the shindig. So off we went to the big box stores looking at their offerings. I was somewhat taken aback at the price of the "kit" tables, and uttered those famous words, "I can build that!" It's all been downhill from there…
Anyway, said lovely wife got her picnic tables in exchange for a DeWalt 12" compound miter saw, which sits alongside a few other tools I've accumulated over the years. There's an old Craftsman 113 table saw a friend gave me a while back (it was in need of some major refurbishment - that was a project in itself) and a mondo huge Harbor Freight drill press. I also have a few other small power tools (jig saw, belt and jitterbug sanders, a couple of routers, and a few corded and cordless drills,) and a few hand saws, clamps, and chisels. And one single, solitary, lonely plane that I know NOTHING about. Have to work on that. I have a wish list of other tools I want to add to my collection (don't we all) but my current state of financial embarrassment won't allow it.
So I'm here to learn, share, and drool over the projects I see in the Projects forum. Looking forward to it.
