Topic tags/keywords: frame saw disston

Cowtown Eric has picked hisself up a frame saw with a 1 3/4” wide x 30” long blade 7 TPI blade stamped dead centre with Disston and sons

Unfortunately, disstonian institute or any other interweb site I’ve been looking at has no info on these blades. Searches fir unages if disston frame saws draws a blank too. Yet there it is, real and looking half-arsed original in the frame (stretcher looks like a replacement, maybe the Alum, inium turnbuckle too!)

Anybody in the Lumberjocks saw world got any insight into Disston frame saw blades?

Someday I gotta take the pledge….no more saws!!! But that’s off in the future!

Could be someone long agoi cut down a panel saw or such to make it? Maybe from a lumber buck saw?

vaguely possible, but not likely; ends of blade are nicely rounded, but there were lots of 30” saws….

None that I recall having the etch 1/2” above the teeth though. Linishing is parallel to teeth

If you look in this catalog, you can see the frame saw blades offered. They call them webs.

Enjoy :)

found an image of a simpilar saw. uprights, handles and pivots appear the same, stretchers and turnbuckle not so much so.

oh my, while it’s not a brace, it seems to be a “boring” tool. AI did think it was reasonably exciting, at least to me. Maybe everyone already has one or two on a peg.

Do you have a picture of it? I’ve bid on a couple of Disston bladed frame saws on ebay, but I’m afraid to pay much for one without seeing it. The only frame saw I own is a CME Handworks 12”.
