A little while ago, I was digging through my Mesquite pile, and found this. I’ve lived in Tucson since 1973, and have only found 2 Momma scorpions, both here at my current residence, about 6 years apart. Needless to say, she’s gonna be dead soon, and so will the young’uns. I been stung 4 times, and my wife once. I don’t need 16 more cruising around here. ........... Jerry (in Tucson)

Just set the wood on fire. It’ll kill them and smell oh so smoky.

Used to live in Tucson … never stung by a scorpion, but had a close call. I got up one morning and saw a dead bark scorpion (smashed) beside the bed. I must have stepped on him when I got up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night.

Jerry,
How bad is the sting? – BJODay

Pulsating pain for 24 hours. Not 23 hours 59 minutes nor 24 hours 1 minute. 24 hours. I would equate a sting like sitting on a thumb tack in one of your back pockets, and sitting on it for that 24 hour period.
The first time was on a knee. I called poison control. When they got through telling me how bad it was gonna be, I just knew I was gonna die… The second and third was in bed. It got me on the right cheek just about where a Levi pocket ends. That’s where the thumb tack analogy comes from. The third was within 1/2” of my left nipple. Boy, was I lucky, cuz a half inch lower, that woulda hurt for a solid 24 hour period. That nipple sting. It’s like stacking plywood about chest high, and dropping a sheet when you’re leaning into the stack, and getting caught between the sheets. I know most of you can relate getting your hands pinched, buuttt.. I can’t remember where the 4th one was, but I do remember pain. ............ Jerry (in Tucson)

My wife got stung 4 times by the same scorpion while in bed this summer. It got her on her foot. She got out of bed to search for it in the sheets. It had crawled in her pants but she did not know that until it was too late. She tried smashing it while it was in her pants, but could not get it so it just kept on stinging her.

Those things are nasty looking. Like little aliens. Lucky I’ve never been stung, because I live in Texas and I am outside a lot.
