Hello-

I was wondering if anyone has any experience using the Kreg automaxx clamps:

https://www.kregtool.com/store/c29/bench-klampstrade/p75/automaxxtrade-bench-klamptrade--3-reach/

I was considering putting a few T-tracks in another bench I have, and than using these clamps to make a clamping table. I wanted to use standard T-tracks as Kreg wants a lot for their track and they’re also much wider than 3/4”. I’m just not sure these clamps would stay in standard T-track. I like how these clamps adjust to various thickness automatic and I thought a clamping table would be a nice addition to the shop!

Thanks in advance!!

I have a couple of the automax t track clamps, but do not use them with regular T track. Found some tracks on ebay that are 3/4” thick by 1 1/2” wide. I drilled and tapped the track, and used 1/4” bolts from under the table to bolt them from underneath, then applied another layer of ply so they are level with the top. Only have the track on the right side and the lower edge of the the table, bought a couple of the clamps with the plates, and plan to recess the plates into the table out in the center for making face frames.

I have used an aftermarket part to affix these clamps to my Festool MFT/3 table. Worked great and the automatic thickness adjusting is pretty cool too.

Thanks guys, it sounds like they’re worth the price. I do have room to raise the bench a bit, so I suppose I could raise it some to make the tracks level. They’re just 44 a pop and I suppose I could get away with only two sections.

Copcarcollector-

What accessory did you purchase to make normal t track work? I could add way more track and keep the cost down!!
Does it work the same as the kreg ones?

Keith – not for T Track, I use these in the 20mm dog holes on the Festool MFT/3 work table. The adapters I think I got on ebay, Seneca Woodworking and I think Veritas make a similar adapter as well

I

I did this to my assembly out feed table. I love it and it works great. I am thinking of adding a track down center of table.

That was quick! and I just found it under projects.
You are going to love the clamps and the flexibility of an assembly table.

Just keep the clamping pressure turned way down or you will pull your track out. That is why Kregg uses the wider dual purpose track. I had to go back and add a bunch more bolts to my track to prevent it from occurring.

I’m not sure why, but I put a scre in every spot, probably cause I had a box of them! I guess I should be fine now!
