Hey folks….

I was looking to purchase the Keen Dust Collector for the mitre saw but in an email from the company, the initial product was pulled because it wasn't a universal fit.

I don't have the space to build a large dust trap to hook into the DC system which is why the Keen product looked very attractive.

Is there another product on the market that works like the Keen Dust Collector does?

I noticed that the dust spews off the back of the blade all over the shop. It seemed to me that the dust had to be directed into the bag or dust port on the back of the saw.

My solution was to make dust shields out of cardboard and tape them to the saw. Doing this I was able to get a perfect custom fit. The shields move into place as the blade is lowered onto the work. This by itself helped tremendously with dust collection!

I then bought an old shop vac at a garage sale and dedicated that vacuum to the miter saw. I got an aftermarket auto-start switch and plugged the saw and the vacuum into it so that the vacuum starts automatically every time I use the saw.

Between the vacuum and the cardboard I have EXCELLENT dust collection at the miter saw.
