I have seen a lot of pictures of the earthquake in Napa and the destruction that it caused. Also, in one post on this forum I saw the mess that it makes inside peoples houses.

I was wondering if there are things people do to their homes out there to help reduce damage such as reinforce shelves, tie down furniture, cabinets and appliances. Do something with shelves to keep things from falling or the same thing with dishes? Or do people just hope that an earthquake does not hit them.

I know that I would do a lot of things different in the house and shop if we were prone to earthquakes.

I’d check all your hanging cabinet and shelving to make sure they are NOT hung with drywall screws. Brittle screws won’t last long in a good earthquake.
