Topic tags/keywords: wixey digital height gauge battery replacement

I need to replace the battery in a Wixey Digital Height Gauge and am having trouble getting to the battery. I can pull the tab out where the battery is but can’t get it far enough out to get to the battery. I thought I’d ask here to see if any of you can give me a little help…... before I end up breaking the tab.

I just pulled mine to see how it works and it looks like the plastic piece that holds the battery may be your problem. I’ll try to explain what I saw on mine-

The battery is held in place by an incomplete plastic ring. The ring goes a little more than half way around the perimeter of the battery. It stops just past the “bottom” of the battery as you are viewing the gauge when removing the batter. Maybe the plastic- because it is not a complete ring- warped some and is catching when you try to lift up the plastic battery holder. Maybe you could slip something like a feeler gauge leaf-or something similar- along the battery side to see if it would release.

If this description is too confusing, let me know and I’ll draw a picture of what I saw.

I have the Wixey digital gauge on my planer and the plastic cover comes completely off. So I’d assume that yours should also. See if there is a hang up on yours.

Thanks Lew, I’ll give that a try. So, the battery tray is supposed to come completely out?

I think you’re right Karson. Something is catching it and keeping it from coming out. I’ll work with it some more and try not to break it.

Lew, the feeler gauge worked like a charm. Thanks.
