I went to the IWF Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday in Atlanta. I laid out on Friday to give my feet a little rest. I was just wondering if anyone else attended to see all of the equipment and supplies.

I wish I could have attended with you Charles. I can’t even imagine how great it must be to see it. I hope you enjoyed it.

I know what ya’ll mean. I’m very fortunate in it just being 40 miles away from my home. If it was more than 300 miles from me I might not have even attended it. However, people attend it from all over the world and I always enjoy it. Thanks for the comments.

Yep I did….(well not this years). I attended the IWF back in 1988. It was a lot of fun and the people of Atlanta are awesome….

I remember the event being huge. To see everything available it couldn’t all be seen in one day. So I was there for 2 days.

Earlier this year I dug through a box that had text books and things from college and I found this inside. I don’t remember why I had this packed in that box of books, but nevertheless a great find.

Here’s a couple of photos.

I’m always there for at least two days. I was disappointed when they changed the days to wed-sat, instead of thursday-sunday. I can only manage to attend two days now. I used to go for three days.
But yeah, I was there Fri-Sat. Picked up a lot of loot and talked to lots of folks.

I went on Thrus. Spent 8 hrs walking the floor. My dogs were tired and not up for another day. I wish I knew you were going … would have tried to meet you at the show.

Lots of neat toys to drool over. None of which would fit into my shop.

Picked up some small pieces of 5 X 18 X 1/8 inch thick pieces of oak that were being spit out of a demo machine. They were just going to throw them out so I picked up enough to make something out of them. Would have got some other pieces destined for the land fill but was just too tired to haul them back to the car.

My wife was relieved that I didnʻt come home with any new tools. lol

Underdog, I think the reasoning behind the change was that the people showing at the show had a hard time getting flights out on Sunday evening so they could get back to work on Monday. Some of them were having to close their booths early on Sunday. The reasoning is that they have a whole day to travel to get back home so they can be at work on Monday. I kind of liked it the way they had it but I can see their difficulty and why they changed it.

I know what you mean by those big toys. They have some really large pieces of equipment there. Tyvekboy, I’m glad you got the wood though. Yeah, I imagine that a lot of nice scrap goes to the dump from a place like that.

Not the same show. IWF is an expo centered on manufacturers and commercial shops. In addition to the display area there are seminars lead by industry leaders on topics related to the woodworking industry. It is held every other year on the even years, so the next IWF will be in 2016.
