Topic tags/keywords: motor question

Hey folks today I was given a Moda Magnetics INC motor. The model # may be 60M-0236, I’m not sure. I want to use this motor for my new Beall buffing system, do you think this will work?

Please point me in the right direction.

Is it a resilient mount motor which point towards it being of a sleeve bearing design vs. the preferred ball bearing for such an application. It is also of ODP (open drip proof) design vs. TEFC (totally enclosed fan cooled) design which works better for buffing where fine dust can be drawn into the motor. The resilient mount also indicates it is most likely from a double wheel blower, these are almost exclusively lower speed and likely 3/4hp or less. Depending on your buffing wheel size, a slow speed (1725rpm) motor could work if spinning a large diameter buffing wheel. The surface speed on a 6” wheel would be too slow with a low speed motor to be able to use effectively.
