Working on the first of hopefully many toys for my granddaughter, she turns one year old next month. I just finished work on a pull toy full of blocks and was wondering about what finish to use that will be safe for her. She puts everything in the mouth so I want it to be safe.

I painted all the blocks with a non-toxic acrylic paint but it left a flat finish. What is a good safe finish for kids’ toys? I was thinking maybe a water based poly but want to be certain I’m not going to do anything to harm this precious little girl! Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Willie

Any finish is safe once it’s cured.
