I started scroll sawing a year ago. I bought a Delta SS350 off craigslist and love it. It’s 16” and has a stand. BUT I’m needing something ‘new’. I want to get the same size, 16”, since i have some space limitations in my studio. I need to have a stand. I called Delta and their newest model and only model (40-694) is 20” AND there’s no stand. I’ve researched brands like craftsman, ryobi etc. I just am clueless. I love my Delta and want to ensure i’m purchasing a comparible OR better brand. Thank you so much! – GREATLY appreciate any help. What kind of budget do you have in mind? Excalibur makes a 16” scroll saw … one of the best available … that sells for about $600. The stand is an optional item that is sold separately.

TheDane – ugh, guess that I should have put that. I was hoping to spend NO more than $500 with a stand. I was under the impression, from Delta, that this newer model was going to be be something like $375 with a stand but it’s just too big. I really need to find a 16” due to space restrictions. Again, the Delta has been amazing, considering I bought it used/craigslist…want to stay with this quality.

I have a 16” Delta. For the money, I think it is a wonderful saw. I have had Craftsman also but like the Delta better.

BUT Delta doesn’t ‘make any new’ 16” Scroll saws…that’s my issue. They have a 20” (which is too big for my space) and it doesn’t even have a stand. SO – given I LOVE my 16” Delta scroll saw but am in the market to buy a new scroll saw – I’m needing some guidance on comparible 16” scroll saws, w/stand that have the same quality as my 16” Delta. Thank you!

I made my own stand. As long as it is solid you don’t need to purchase one unless you don’t want to make one.
